Offenses Involving Substance Use/Abuse

As we all know, the use of illegal substances or legal substances used in an illegal manner can lead to substantial and significant legal, financial, and relationship problems.  We all know good folks who have made poor choices and decisions while using and/or abusing alcohol and/or drugs.  From Misdemeanor Offenses such as Minor in Possession of Alcohol, Public Drunkenness, Discharging a Firearm While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, and Possession of Less than an Ounce of Marijuana, to Felony Offenses such as Possession of Cocaine or Heroin or Methamphetamine, Substance Use/Abuse can negatively alter someone’s life and future.

When charged with an offense related to Substance Use/Abuse, a person will face potential criminal punishment depending upon the nature and severity of the charge, the person’s history, and potential factual issues involved in the particular case.   In addition to the possible repercussions in the instant matter, if any underlying issues regarding substance abuse are not addressed, then a successful resolution in the instant matter may only be a temporary band-aid to the problem. An attorney who is not only knowledgeable in this area of the law but who is also familiar with issues related to Substance Abuse and treatment can be a valuable component of a plan that is developed with the purpose of successfully treating the underlying problem.

Without the proper assistance and guidance, someone who is accused of violating the law can be exposed to what can at times be an unforgiving legal system.  It is my goal to represent folks who are accused of violating the law in such a manner that will place them in the best possible position to favorably resolve their current matter along with addressing any personal issues to assist them to avoid any future problems.”  JHC
